Embery-Simpson enters name in transfer portal

Arkansas guard Keyshawn Embery-Simpson made the go-ahead 3-pointer with 14.8 seconds remaining in the Razorbacks' 69-66 win over Vanderbilt on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2019, in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas freshman guard Keyshawn Embery-Simpson has entered the transfer portal, a team spokesperson confirmed to WholeHogSports.

The news comes two days after Mike Anderson was dismissed as Arkansas' coach after eight seasons. He is the first current player to explore transfer options since Anderson's firing.

A four-star recruit by 247Sports and Rivals out of Midwest City High School in Oklahoma and IMG Academy (Fla.), Embery-Simpson averaged 4.1 points on 34.6 percent shooting and 1.2 rebounds per game. He finished the season ninth on the team in minutes played at 14.6 per game.

Embery-Simpson reached double figures in scoring four times in 2018-19 - Colorado State, Austin Peay, Ole Miss, LSU. He added a then-career high 16 points in the loss to the Rebels and finished with 16 in Arkansas' win in Baton Rouge to open February.

He did not play in Arkansas' loss to Florida in the SEC Tournament with a left foot/ankle injury and played eight combined minutes in the Razorbacks' two NIT games against Providence and Indiana.
