Arkansas' Moore named Freshman All-American

Arkansas first baseman Cole Austin heads to third base Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, on an RBI slash-bunt single by Robert Moore during the fifth inning at Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville.

— Arkansas second baseman Robert Moore earned Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper on Tuesday for his play during the shortened 2020 season.

Moore batted .317 with 2 home runs, 2 doubles and 17 RBI in 16 games. He also made a handful of highlight-reel defensive plays.

He received a national player of the week award from Perfect Game after going 8-for-12 with 9 RBI in four games against Gonzaga. He also drew four walks during the series.

Moore played all of his games this year prior to his 18th birthday on March 31. He graduated Shawnee Mission East (Kan.) High School in December and enrolled at Arkansas in January.

Arkansas has had 23 Freshman All-Americans in its history. The Razorbacks have had at least one Freshman All-American each year since 2017, and Arkansas has had 10 players earn that distinction in the past 10 seasons.

Moore is the second Razorback to earn All-America status this year. Heston Kjerstad was voted to Collegiate Baseball's All-America team last week.
