Schedule change: Diamond Hogs to open with Texas Tech, not Texas

— Arkansas' baseball season opener will be against a familiar opponent from the Big 12, just not the one originally planned.

The Razorbacks are now scheduled to open the season with a game against Texas Tech on Feb. 19 at the College Baseball Showdown in Arlington, Texas. Arkansas' schedule release earlier this week listed Texas as the season-opening opponent, but the Razorbacks' games against the Longhorns and Red Raiders were swapped.

Arkansas is scheduled to play Texas on Feb. 20 and TCU on Feb. 21 at Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers. All three games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The Razorbacks are familiar with all three teams they will see in Arlington, having played each team at least once since 2019.

Texas Tech eliminated Arkansas from the College World Series in 2019. A year earlier the Razorbacks swept two games against the Red Raiders, including a game at the 2018 College World Series.

Arkansas and Texas will meet for the fourth consecutive season. The Razorbacks won four of five meetings in 2018-19, including a game at the 2018 College World Series. The Longhorns beat Arkansas last year at the Shriners Classic in Houston.

The Razorbacks defeated TCU twice during a 2019 NCAA regional in Fayetteville.

Tickets for the College Baseball Showdown go on sale Thursday at 1 p.m. through the Rangers' website. Single-day tickets are $25 and a weekend pass is $50.

Attendance each day will be capped at between 14,000 and 15,000, according to the Rangers.
