KNOCK ON WOOD : Wholehogsports.com sports new look, blogs too

Published: Friday, August 31, 2007 PRINT E-MAIL

With the kickoff

football season here,

the Times’ Razorback-related Web site, www. wholehogsports. com, has a brand new look and a number of new features, too.

The launch is set for 5 p. m.

As always, the site will contain the latest Razorbacks and Lady’Backs news, reported by the staffs of the Northwest Arkansas Times and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, but the redesign is more pleasing to the eye and contains a bevy of new features sure to keep your fingers clicking on your mouse and keyboard.

The feature the Times ’

staff is most excited about is our three blogs — Slophouse for Razorback and Lady’Back topics, High School Clipboard for prep sports and NFL Press Box, obviously, for the NFL. We’ll be posting comments and information, and you can post yours right back.

Check back in at www. wholehogsports. com tonight around 8: 30 p. m. to get the halftime scores for Washington County football teams, and then check back in around 10 p. m. for the final scores.

With the Hogs’ football season opening Saturday, Razorback Game Day returns. Our 16-page preview will have you totally informed in time for the 6 p. m. kickoff of the Arkansas-Troy game. This week’s cover features Heisman front-runner Darren McFadden as well as a feature story on the Hogs’ “ Man in the Middle, ” junior center Jonathan Luigs. Seek it out Saturday, packaged with the classified section of the Arkansas-Democrat Gazette.

For those not in town Saturday, check out our Game Day content at www. wholehogsports. com.

As for the game itself, I think you will be surprised at the Hogs’ team speed on defense, especially the linebackers. Also, keep an eye on No. 96 Malcolm Sheppard. He’s big time.

While Darren McFadden and Felix Jones are the show on offense, fans might be surprised at how much the Hogs pass against Troy. Offensive coordinator David Lee is not just paying lip service to developing an effective passing game.

Terry J. Wood is the sports editor of the Northwest Arkansas Times.
