Nutt family on hand for UA game Published: Wednesday, March 05, 2008 PRINT E-MAIL OXFORD, Miss. — With Ole Miss football coach and former 10-year Arkansas coach Houston Nutt and his family and staff renewing acquaintances and firstyear Arkansas assistant basketball coach and former Ole Miss head coach Rob Evans renewing old Arkansas acquaintances, Tad Smith Coliseum was filled with reunions Tuesday night before the Arkansas-Ole Miss game. Evans received a nice ovation when introduced pregame. On hand were Houston Nutt, his wife Diana, his brothers Danny Nutt, a former Razorback assistant football coach and now Houston Nutt’s administrative assistant at Ole Miss, and Dickey Nutt, the former basketball coach at Arkansas State. Others on hand included John Thompson of Forrest City, a former defensive coordinator at Ole Miss and Nutt’s former defensive coordinator at Arkansas, and Tubby Smith, the Minnesota head basketball coach at Georgia and Kentucky whose son, Brian, is a senior guard who played his last Rebel home game Tuesday night.
Brian Smith is Tubby’s third son to be a starting guard in the SEC. G. G. Smith started at Georgia under both his father and then Ron Jirsa. Saul Smith started at Kentucky while Tubby Smith coached the Wildcats. An Ole Miss Arkansan, Rebel senior center Jermey Parnell of Gosnell, played his final game Tuesday night at Tad Smith Coliseum.
