UA's Fairchild arrested in connection with battery, false imprisonment

Published: Tuesday, March 25, 2008 PRINT E-MAIL

University of Arkansas linebacker Freddie Fairchild was arrested Monday afternoon by a Fayetteville Police officer in connection with third degree battery and second degree false imprisonment, according to a police report.

Freddie Fairchild, 21, of 1375 N. Leverett in Fayetteville was arrested and charged with the two misdemeanors shortly after 1 p.m. Monday. He was booked at the Washington County Detention Center at 6: 11 p. m., according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office Web site.

The victim - a female who was described as Fairchild's domestic partner in a police report - told police that Fairchild physically attacked her causing injuries to her head, face, arms, legs and pelvis. She said after the attack he did not allow her to leave the house for several hours, according to the arrest report.

The sophomore defensive player for the Razorbacks was being held at the Washington County Detention Center on $ 1, 500 bond Monday night.

Fairchild was the Hogs'third-leading tackler last season with 92 stops. He played in all 13 of Arkansas' games in 2007 and started in 11.
