Razorback Golf headed to NCAA Central Regional

Published: Tuesday, May 06, 2008 PRINT E-MAIL

The Arkansas men's golf team was extended an invitation to postseason play Monday when NCAA Regional selections were announced.

The Razorbacks will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to compete May 15-17 in the NCAA Central Regional at the par-71, 7, 455-yard Scarlet Golf Course hosted by Ohio State University. Arkansas is the No. 14 seed in the 27-team field of the Central Regional.

The projected lineup for UA will consist of freshman Sam Chavez, sophomore David Lingmerth and juniors Andrew Landry, Will Osborne and Jason Turner. The group of Razorbacks has competed together in the past five events and collected four top-five finishes, including the team title at the Border Olympics.

Landry leads the team with a 72. 61 scoring average and was named a second-team All-Southeastern Conference selection last week for the second time in his Razorback career. Last season, as an individual, Landry competed at the NCAA Central Regional and tied for sixth place, missing the NCAA Championships by just two spots.

Lingmerth is second on the team with a 73. 27 scoring average.
