Keuchel pitches one inning In Cape Cod all-star game Published: Friday, August 01, 2008 PRINT E-MAIL Dallas Keuchel of the Arkansas baseball team has had a busy week with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod League. First he was named as one of the elite players in the league by Rivals. com, then pitched in the all-star game on Saturday afternoon and on Wednesday was recognized as an all-star at Boston's legendary Fenway Park. Keuchel's week of honors began on July 23 when Rivals. com named him one of the Cape Cod League's Elite 11. Ranked No. 8 overall and the fourth of five elite pitchers, Keuchel was recognized for his 1. 60 ERA over 45 innings of work for the Gatemen. At the time of the release, Keuchel had struck out 30 batters and allowed just nine walks. On Saturday, July 26, Keuchel represented the Gatemen in the annual Cape Cod League All-Star Game. Pitching for the West All-Stars, Keuchel and his teammates held the East to just one hit over the first seven innings with Keuchel throwing a scoreless sixth. In his one inning of work, the Tulsa native got the first batter he faced to fly out to center field. He walked the next batter, induced a ground out and capped the inning off with a strike out. Unfortunately for Keuchel and his teammates, the Eastern All-Stars set a Cape Cod League All-Star Game record with seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win the game 8-6. The week of honors concluded for Keuchel on Wednesday night at Fenway Park when all 50 all-star players from the Cape Cod League game were recognized prior to the Red Sox game.
