Wade gets community service, fines in DWI case Published: Thursday, August 21, 2008 PRINT E-MAIL ![]() Wade Arkansas Razorback sophomore wide receiver Marques Wade was sentenced on Wednesday to pay fines and court costs and complete 16 hours of community ser vice on drunk driving and careless driving charges. Wade, 19, appeared before Fayetteville District Judge Rudy Moore on Monday without an attorney and pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated and careless driving. He was sentenced by Moore to serve 90 days in the Washington County Detention Center with all of the sentence except 16 hours of community service suspended upon completion of an alcohol program and payment of fines and costs. Wade was also ordered to pay a total of $ 225 in fines, $ 300 in court costs and $ 10 to the county. He paid the fines and costs on Wednesday, a court official said. Wade was stopped by Fayetteville police on July 26 after an officer observed him speeding in a parking lot and sliding to a stop at a stop sign on Stone Street, where he " nearly " struck another police officer, according to a preliminary police report.
Wade's body had the " odor of intoxicants, " according to the report, and officers observed that his eyes were bloodshot. Wade denied he had been drinking but said that he " had smoked some marijuana earlier in the day, " according to the report. He failed a field sobriety test and was transpor ted to the county jail, where he provided a breathalyzer sample and registered a blood alcohol content of 0. 11. The legal limit in Arkansas is 0. 08. The underage limit is 0. 02. The Ellenwood, Ga., native performed well in the spring, catching nine passes for 108 yards in three scrimmages.
