Bua named honorary captain for Hogs' opener

Published: Thursday, August 28, 2008 PRINT E-MAIL

The University of Arkansas is proud to announce former Razorback Tony Bua as the Old Spice / Eggland's Best Eggs honorary captain for the Western Illinois-Arkansas football game.

The Razorbacks play host to the Leathernecks at 6 p.m. on Saturday in Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

The University of Arkansas Athletic Department is presenting an honorary captain for each Fayetteville home game this season. Each honorary captain is honored prior to the game on the field, recognized on the SmartVision screen and will accompany the Razorback captains to midfield for the coin toss. The honorary captain also appears at the Legends Tent presented by Old Spice and Eggland's Best Eggs in the AT & T Trough approximately 90 minutes before game time.

Bua, Arkansas'all-time leading tackler with 408 stops, was a four-year letterman for the Razorbacks from 2000-03. He earned second-team All-Southeastern Conference honors as a sophomore and junior, and was a first-team selection as a senior. Bua was named team captain his senior season and was awarded the Bruce Mitchell Award for toughness. The outside linebacker / free safety recorded 30 wins as a Razorback. Bua was a member of the 2003 SEC Western Division championship team and played in four bowl games in four years.

He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.
