Published: Saturday, August 30, 2008 PRINT E-MAIL

The University of Arkansas and Razorback Sports Properties (RSP ), have announced the station lineup for the Razorback Football En Espanol radio network for the 2008 football season. The network will carry all seven (7 ) Fayetteville and Little Rock home games this season, beginning with the season opener this Saturday vs. Western Illinois.

Sports Hog 1580 AM in Fort Smith, ESPN 1390 in Northwest Arkansas and ESPN Desportes 1350 in Little Rock will air the Razorback Football Spanish broadcasts. Carlos Chicas and Jose Lopez will provide the play-by-play coverage. The broadcasts will begin 15 minutes prior to kickoff and will have a 15-minute post-game show.

This is the second season for the Razorback Spanish Football Network.

“ We are very excited to continue our Spanish network, ” said Jeff Long, Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics. “ The Hispanic market is a large and growing market in Arkansas with more and more Razorback fans. This network is a logical extension of our program into the Hispanic community. ”

Chicas and Lopez provided the play-by-play for a selection of Razorback baseball games last spring and the duo has called various other Razorback events including women’s basketball and soccer. Chicas and Lopez are hosts of Invasion’s “ Razorbacks In Espanol” which highlights Latino Razorback student-athletes and promotes the Razorbacks to the Latino community.
