UA's Tracy sets course record in Maryland tourney Published: Monday, September 08, 2008 PRINT E-MAIL CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Playing in his first round as a collegian, Ethan Tracy of Arkansas set the competitive course record with a 7-under-par 64 on Sunday during the first round of the Maryland Intercollegiate men's golf tournament. The previous course record was a 65, set by assistant pro Phil Fenstermaker, a former University of Maryland player. The event is being played at the River Marsh Golf Course at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort. The opening round started at 6: 40 a. m., with the players sent back out immediately for the final 18 holes. Tracy led the Razorbacks to the team lead after the first round. Arkansas' number-3 player had eight birdies, including the final four holes of the back nine. His back-nine card included five birdies and a bogey for a 31. David Lingmerth and Andrew Landry each had 69, with Sam Chavez scoring a 70, as the Razorbacks had four players under the par-71 mark en route to a 272 team total.
Arkansas held an eightstroke lead in the team standings over NC State, which was led by Darren Blair's 67, and Texas State, which got a 67 from Corey Roberson. Individually, Tracy led by two strokes over Eric Onesi of Old Dominion, who had a 66 in Sunday's opening round. Maryland was in seventh place in the team standings after round one.
