UA Harriers take on the Stanford Invite

The No. 22 Arkansas Razorback men's cross country will continue competition with the Stanford Invitational, Saturday. The 8 K race is set to go off at 12: 50 p.m. at the Stanford Golf Course.

Arkansas men's cross country will compete at the Stanford Invitational for the first time since the early'90 s. Expected to travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for the race are Lane Boyer, Michael Chinchar, Rick Elliott, Eric Fernandez, Daniel LaCava, Scott MacPherson, Alex McClary, Duncan Phillips and Rio Reina.

Also scheduled to compete at the Stanford Invitational are No. 19 California, No. 21 Cal Poly, No. 37 UCLA, Baylor (ranked fifth in the South Central region ), Bowling Green, Pepperdine, Sacramento State, UC-Irvine and the hosting No. 11 Stanford Cardinal, among others.

The first U. S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA ) has Arkansas Razorback men's cross country ranked No. 22 in its first poll of the 2008 season, it was announced by the association early last week.

Among the Southeastern Conference, Alabama is ranked No. 5 and Auburn sits at 25 th. Oregon is ranked No. 1 in the nation, Oklahoma State is seated second and Colorado rounds out the top three.

Also released earlier this week were the USTFCCCA regional rankings. The Arkansas harriers are seated at No. 3 in the South Central region behind No. 1 Texas and No. 2 Texas A & M. The top-ranked SEC team in the region, LSU is the only other conference foe listed in the South Central region. The Tigers sit at No. 9.
