Arkansas soccer takes on Vols in Knoxville Published: Sunday, October 05, 2008 PRINT E-MAIL KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Razorback soccer team will look to rebound from its first conference loss of the season when it takes on Tennessee at Regal Soccer Stadium today. Arkansas (9-2, 2-1 ) had its eightgame winning streak snapped in Friday’s 2-1 loss to Georgia in double overtime. The Razorback-Lady Volunteer contest is set for a noon start. In the all-time series, Arkansas trails Tennessee, 1-7-1, but played its SEC counterpart to a 1-1 tie last season in Fayetteville. At the time, the Lady Volunteers were the sixth-ranked team in the country. Lindsay Patterson scored in the 69 th minute of the game to even the score. Prior to last year’s game, Arkansas had lost seven straight to Tennessee. The Razorbacks’ only win in the series came in the firstever meeting between the two teams, a 1-0 triumph in Knoxville during the 1996 season. Patterson and Kelly O’Connor are tied for the team lead with five goals each and O’Connor is Arkansas’ point leader with 12. Kailey Anders, Rachel Carlson and Abbey Wilburn share the top spot on the team with three assists each. Wilburn collected her 15 th career helper in Friday’s game against Georgia and moved into a tie for seventh place on Arkansas’ career
assist list. In goal for the Razorbacks, sophomore Britni Williams anchors the team’s defensive efforts with a 0. 55 goals against average. Tennessee (4-7, 1-2 ) enters the game off a 2-1 win over No. 15 LSU, its first conference win of the season. Offensively, the Lady Volunteers are led by reigning SEC Offensive Player of the Year Kylee Rossi and her seven goals. The senior forward has tallied a goal in five straight games for Tennessee. Fellow first-team performer Jaimel Johnson minds the net for Tennessee and owns a 1. 49 goals against average this season. Today’s game will mark the end of Arkansas’ four-game road start in conference play. The Razorbacks will return to Fayetteville next weekend for a pair of games against Alabama and Auburn.
