At least one of the Razorbacks’ three men’s basketball commitments is signed to the University of Arkansas fold.

Anthony Borden, the 7-foot, 230-pound center from West Memphis, signed a University of Arkansas letter of intent Wednesday at a press conference in West Memphis.

Wednesday marked the start to the week-long early signing period.

Following his senior year this season at West Memphis, Borden will join John Pephrey’s Razorbacks for the 2009-10 season.

At West Memphis last season, Borden averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds.

He also stood out in AAU ball playing for the Arkansas Hawks and was recruited by Ole Miss, Xavier, South Carolina, Alabama-Birmingham, and Alabama.

Verbally committed to sign with Arkansas are Jemal Farmer, a 6-5 junior college transfer guard from Cloud (Kan. ) Community College and 6-7 power forward Marshawn Powell of Charlottes- ville, Va.

None of the Razorbacks ’ commitments, including Borden was announced as signed Wednesday by the University of Arkansas.

Farmer averaged 16. 1 points and 5. 4 rebounds last season as a junior college freshman. He intends to transfer to Arkansas next year as a junior.

He is originally from Chicago and was also recruited by Nebraska and Alabama-Birmingham.

Cloud County had a junior college game Wednesday night at Independence (Kan. ).

As a high school junior last year in Charlottesville, Powell averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds. He was also courted by Maryland, Florida State, North Carolina State and Massachusetts.
