I admit, its hard to not be concerned with a potential burglary ring. However, it also bears mentioning that we don't have all of the facts. Rather than jump on a bandwagon and proclaim a verdict (as some have done on here), I counsel that it's better to see what the fact are first. It just seems that too many pull the trigger to toss someone under the bus way too quickly on the hill.
I shudder to think what our prospects for next year would be without Wilson's return. Not that I want to pin the entire season on his shoulders (there are many other great and seasoned players on the team). But, it all starts at QB and breaking one in, no matter how talented, would have been difficult with our coaching troubles. Wilson's unselfishness and team-first attitude should be highly applauded.
I'd LOVE to drink the Kool Aid that Jeff Long is serving...but folks, head coaches and team CEO's are critical (all you have to do is look at winning programs in the history of college football). The quote by Bum Phillips (I think it was his) about Bear Bryant gets to the root of our situation, "He can take his'n and beat your'n and take your'n and beat his'n.". If Smith cannot win against Bama, we're in for a long year. But, till then, enjoy the ride. Without Petrino, AND without a reasonable substitute, the odds of us getting to the National Championship Game have diminished greatly.
My two cents...although I think that John L will make a capable interim. I really wished we could have made a splash with a big hire. I truly, truly wish we will go undefeated, but I temper my optimism with reality. I've been a football fan for forty years now. When it comes to coaches, yes, there can be some "ramp up" time (as we saw in the first couple of seasons when Petrino took over the bare cupboard). But, with very few exceptions, a coaches stripes are pretty well established over the course of time. I am not optimistic as some on next year. I will hope and pray for the best. To turn a quote from another venue, "You are what your record is". So true in many things in life. I love the team, I love the players and bleed Razorback Red, but putting the players and coaches feelings ahead of the program is a grave mistake in my opinion. Love Petrino, or hate him, we need a CEO like him at the top....period. Otherwise, my fear is that we just hired Jack Crowe II.
The Morals Police and Kanagroo Courts are in session in AR. Give the judgement crap a break folks and let Long do his job. Bobby, I don't judge ya....good luck on your predicament...perhaps learn a valuable lesson...and try not to let the Nutt patrol run you off.
hognaustin....I disagree. His system highlights and maximizes receivers; but the lack of monsters on the DL is not for lack of recruiting. He's built the rep as a master WR producer. DL prospects will take a while. Give it time. Finally, any comparison to that cripple Nutt is idiotic. He couldn't recruit or coach at all!

Happy hour: Smith jumps in, with a smile

UA can take LSU, but 2 games must stay
When you have a top notch stadium, with 70,000 plus seats, then maybe. Otherwise, it hurts recruiting and the program. Central Ark arrogance.
