JLS was the right choice for the moment, made under very difficult and trying circumstances.
The success of the season will be up to the players, however - guys recruited by Bobby Petrino, utilizing a mindset and leadership qualities instilled by him.
The next choice for head coach will be more interesting [and important].
As with the [living] legend before him, Jeff Long is a keeper and the UA is fortunate to retain his services. He will leave his stamp on the various programs before he's done.
Hang in there, maddog. I've enjoyed reading your posts and opinions.
"It would be hard to imagine Bobby Petrino interacting with anyone via social networking."
Could we get off the Bobby bashing? It is well known that the local media [Allen, Murphy, et al] didn't care for the business like manner in which Petrino and his staff handled them, but please, the guy's teams went 10-3 and 11-2 over the past two years.
If JLS or any head coach can duplicate those numbers, I couldn't less about their "social networking" skills or how Allen, Murphy and the other pen heads are treated, one way or another.
There is always going to be transition with a new coach and style of play. I have a feeling this decision may have been mutual, but regardless, wish Devonta only the best with his next stop and team.
I like Abron, but given the style of play, would think Mike Anderson may have other ideas. Hopefully, the kid will land on his feet and the move can be a mutual benefit.
The post facto blame game, by the local media, involving Bobby Petrino is getting more than a little tiresome.
As with most of us, he had some issues, for which a price has been paid, yet Bobby Petrino is clearly one of the best college football coaches in the country.
I think it's [past] time for the media boys to collectively dry their eyes and move on.
Here we go, again. If John L. Smith runs the table and wins every game, then make this a story at the end of the season.
Regardless, I couldn't care less about how the media folks, like Nate Allen and Tom Murphy, are treated by the head coach.
Bobby Petrino built a highly successful program and instilled a winning mindset, from the classroom to the field. How he treated Murphy and Allen is irrelevant.
It will be interesting to see how Jeff Long handles the situation. There is a certain [very successful] business like mindset instilled with the current staff and players directly associated with Bobby Petrino's way of doing things - from off season workouts, to practices, to developing leadership skills, to game day preparations and performances, to academics.
I'm not sure about Peterson and Patterson, but Garrick McGee knows the mindset.

Report: Abron to leave Arkansas
