I'm not a Wally fan or hater. But I agree I don't recall ever seeing pictures. I mean no offense to you. It just seems you are just grasping for something to gripe at him about. I'm sure if I wrote for as many years as he did I'd have haters against me.
As long as we fans allow Mike to be Mike, this has potential to be good. We just can't compare to the past. We have to let the present be the present. And even though as of right now we have a top class coming in, if we keep them all, we still must be patient. The team will still have to overcome a few road blocks to adjust to the new staff as well as the frosh will have to adjust to college ball altogether. Lots of conditioning, etc. I think the hard nosed mindset will be there. We can thank JP for that. I think he really deserves a pat on the back for taking the program from a group of lazy selfish players to a team that is playing much more together. ($1.8 per year should do fine as a pat on the back :) ) GO HOGS!
I hate the slow form of ball. I'm not debating we need an up-tempo style of play. However, I hold fast that the reason the MAJORITY (not all) of the hog fans want Anderson is because they are clinging to the Nolan days and think he will be the second coming of NR. He is set up for failure, short of a National Championship or Final Four within 4 to 5 years max. I think for the overall Hognation we need a different person. not a different style of play. I don't know who or have a strong opinion. I just think the idea of Anderson is stronger than the reality of what he will truly bring to the table on his own right.
Anderson is the just the fans' way of dreaming more about the past. I'm ready for the future and he is not what is best for the overall program. We need to get past the Nolan era and go on. Those in support of Anderson don't want him, they hope Nolan will live through him. There are plenty of coaches at least as good as Anderson out there.
1st, everything revolving Tubby Smith is speculation from media. We have no real evidence of the substance.
2nd, Mike Anderson is a pipe dream for those wanting the days of Nolan back. Someone earlier on one of the other posts hit the nail on the head when they said that anything short of accomplishments equal to Nolan would be failure for Anderson in the eyes of Hog fans. (my own paraphrase). I'm not saying he couldn't be a good coach at Arkansas but he's not the answer. We need a big name hire elsewhere and get past the Nolan days finally.
...finally, you have a right to speak your mind, but try using some facts. Why would you fire Long over this hire if he makes a so called "idiot decision"? He didn't hire Pelphrey. He did hire Petrino. I think we should give him a chance do his job. That's why he's there and we're all here skipping work to make comments.
A lot of people would say Arkansas didn't know how to use Joe Johnson. Kids mature differently and the lights click on at different times. Superstar college athletes often fail at the next level in all sports. Yet guys who were average college end up rockstars on the next level. Just saying I don't think Rondo's performance in college is all Tubby's fault.
TS is not my first choice but I wouldn't throw my hog hat off a bridge over it...actually I'd probably push my car over a bridge before I did that! WPS!
I don't care who, just not a freakin' project coach. We need someone with national respect to keep the recruits and the fans. If we want big time basketball, then we need to pony up the bucks and pay for a big time coach.
Seriously, some of the criticism is ridiculous. At this point, it has nothing to do with wins/losses/production or lack there of. It's just that some fans make up their minds that the coach should go and that's that. People were grumbling after we beat Kentucky too. Even if we win the last two games and make a strong enough showing in the SEC tournament to make the dance, there will still be fans who are mad because the opportunity was missed to fire the coach. Geez, can't we just enjoy the victories.
Petrino’s pieces in place
Lol, that's funny. Can you imagine Greg Oden lining up on the o line.
