Hogs getting good one in Hedlund

Kicker Cole Hedlund, an Arkansas commitment, is expected to take over kicking duties for Hogs next year.

Kohl's Kicking Camp Director & National Evaluator Jamie Kohl's admiration for Arkansas' newest commitment, kicker Cole Hedlund is high. He rates him a 5-star prospect and the No. 4 kicker in the nation.

"I’ve known Cole for or four years and done work with him a lot for the last year or so," Kohl said. "He’s a guy resume wise might be the nation's all time field goal kicker by the time he's a senior."

Hedlund, 5-10, 170 pounds of Argyle, Texas made 7 of 10 field goals as a junior and had a long of 47 yards while having 42 touchbacks on 57 kickoffs.

"He's very, very repeatable with his motions, very dependable," Kohl said. "He gets great height, the ball rotates slowly. He seems unflappable. I view him as a prolific point scorer."

As a sophomore, Hedlund made a national record 25 field goals out of 30 and hit 73 of 75 extra points.

Kohl credits much of Hedlund's ability to kick under pressure to kicking in big-time high school situations from an early age. He thinks Arkansas got a special kicker.

"I think the real deal is they’ve got a guy that's going to score points," Kohl said. "Kicking in the SEC you can have a lot of talent but if you can't handle the atmosphere you’re not going to be very good. I think what they got they got a guy that can do both."
