— Arkansas athletics director Jeff Long said Sunday that he is "not seeking a position or engaged in the search process of another University."

The Dallas Morning News, citing sources, reported he would interview for the same position at Texas earlier in the day.

According to the report, Long was one of three finalists to replace retiring Texas athletics director DeLoss Dodds. Other candidates, according to the report, are West Virginia athletics director Oliver Luck and Arizona State's Steve Patterson.

Long used Twitter on Sunday evening to address the situation.

"I'm proud to be a Vice Chancellor and the Director of Athletics at the U of A," Long tweeted. "Further, I’m not seeking a position or engaged in the search process of another University.

"Chancellor Gearhart is a tremendous leader and a man of high integrity; it is a privilege to work for and with him. I have also great appreciation for the support of President (Donald) Bobbitt and our Board of Trustees. Together we’ve made critically important decisions to advance our athletics program during my time with the U of A and will have more in the future.

"I am excited to lead this program and am energized by the prospects of providing the student-athletes and coaches the facilities and resources they need to compete and excel at the SEC and national levels. Thanks for your support of the Hogs #NeverYield."

Long and Luck are on the inaugural college football playoffs committee. Shortly after being named chairman of the committee, Long answered questions about his commitment to the University of Arkansas.

"I'm not interested in listening to anyone," Long said Oct. 17. "This is a job I am excited to lead and a program I'm excited to lead. Looking back at what we've done over the last five years, I'm very proud of that and looking forward to continuing it."

According to a USA Today database for athletics directors' salaries, Long is the 11-highest paid athletics director in the country with $903,900 in annual income and bonuses of up to $650,000.

Dodds, according to the database, is the sixth-highest paid at his position with an annual income of more than $1.1 million. According to Forbes, Texas has the NCAA's most profitable football program with $103.8 million in revenue in the latest reporting period.

Long has been Arkansas' athletics director since Jan. 1, 2008 and he was named by his peers as one of four athletics directors of the year for the 2012-13 term. Long would owe the university $1 million if he voluntarily ended his current contract.
