Jack, Rafe and Rachael Peavey call The Hogs.

The respect for Arkansas commitment quarterback Rafe Peavey was obvious when numerous family members and friends showed up for his signing of an Institutional Financial Aid Agreement with Arkansas on Monday.

“Even some of the Missouri fans,” Peavey said. “So that was pretty cool. And they called the Hogs at the end.”

Peavey, 6-2, 208, 4.5 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Bolivar, Mo. will enroll at Arkansas in January and participate in spring practice.

His dual capabilities helped him complete 69 percent of his passes by hitting 127 of 185 for 2,294 yards, 16 touchdowns and rush for 1,557 yards and 27 touchdowns on 187 carries.

“I just want to go and be the best quarterback that I can be and continue to push myself,” Peavey said.

Peavey’s family’s ties to Arkansas is strong. His father, Jack was a graduate assistant under Coach Jack Crowe and his mother, Rachael is an Arkansas graduate.

“We’ve all been looking forward to this day and it’s just a blessing,” Peavey said. “It finally came and we’re just very grateful.”

Peavey has been an active recruiter of other prospects for Arkansas. He said he provides a different angle to other recruits.

“Tell them from a player's perspective,” Peavey said. “All they’ve been up to this point has been from a coach’s perspective. It’s kind of nice hearing from a different source. It’s little bit more real when it’s coming from a player.”
