Louisiana DB impresses and is impressed

Junior DB Chanse Sylvie impressed at Arkansas' camp.

— Driving up from Louisiana for Arkansas’ July 24 Elite Prospect Camp, junior cornerback Chanse Sylvie noticed he wasn’t in the Bayou State.

“It was great seeing the hills,” Sylvie said. “It’s different, because I’m use to like flat lands.”

Once the camp started, Sylvie's athletic ability stood out much like the Ozark mountains.

"They enjoyed me and said I was a great kid, and just to stay in touch because they can't talk to me until September 1,” Sylvie said. “So just stay in touch with them.”

Sylvie, 5-11, 172, 4.48 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Shreveport Calvary Academy has scholarship offers from Texas Tech and Louisiana Tech, but is a good bet to add numerous others over the next two years. He enjoyed working with defensive backs coach Clay Jennings.

"Coach Jennings was amazing,” Sylvie said. "I got to learn different things and things I need to improve on, myself. I loved being with Coach Jennings, he's a funny person.

Sylvie recorded 121 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, an interception, 3 pass deflections and a forced fumble as a sophomore. He said Arkansas’ facilities were top-notch.

"It was amazing," Sylvie said. "I've been to Louisiana Tech, but I haven't seen a facility like that. It was amazing.”

His athleticism and ability to change directions separated him from most of the others in attendance.

He would love to see the Hogs extend an offer.

"It would mean a lot because it's in the SEC, the best conference," Sylvie said. "It would mean a lot. I used to watch Arkansas. I remember when they beat LSU in overtime. I remember that game, Darren McFadden, so it would mean a lot.”
