Junior college O-lineman planning Arkansas trip

Junior college offensive lineman Branton Autry plans to visit Arkansas.

Arkansas is likely to get a visit from offensive lineman Branton Autry, a highly regarded junior college prospect.

“I haven’t set up a date, but it’s going to be sometime this month (April),” Autry said.

Autry, 6-4, 320 pounds of Coffeyville Community College in Kansas has about 12 scholarship offers from schools like Arkansas, Missouri, Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Arizona State, and Kansas State. Video highlights CLICK HERE

His interest in the Hogs is primarily because of his relationship with offensive line coach Sam Pittman.

“I really like him,” Autry said. “He’s a good coach and he doesn't tell you what you want to hear. You tells you real true facts. He told me he doesn’t guarantee a spot, but if I come there and I work hard the spot is mine. Most of the time coaches will tell you you’re going to have a spot at the school. It's really not like that."

He said Pittman has said he would play left guard should he become a Razorback. Autry is uncertain on other visits this spring.

“I’m really not sure, but I know I’m going to visit Arkansas,” he said.

Autry made Kansas Jayhawk Community College first team All Conference as a freshman. He claims no favorites.

“I like all the schools that have offered me,” Autry said.

Autry, who played at Mobile Blount high school in Alabama before making his way to Kansas, plans to graduate in December and will have three years to play two.

He wants to be an offensive line coach after his playing days are over.

“I would try and be like a player’s coach, speak from experience,” Autry said. “I would want to make sure they’re doing good in their studies and home life. Just make sure they’re alright.”
