Cornelius Floyd, KT Marks transferring from Arkansas

Arkansas cornerbacks D.J. Dean (2) and Cornelius Floyd work through drills during practice Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at the university's practice facility in Fayetteville.

— Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema’s roster is in flux with just over a week before the season opener.

Bielema announced Wednesday at the Northwest Arkansas Touchdown Club that both redshirt sophomore quarterback Rafe Peavey and junior quarterback Cornelius Floyd had made decisions Sunday night to transfer.

“Cornelius Floyd, he and I had discussions Sunday night and really on Sunday I had talked to Rafe and C-Floyd," Bielema said, "and through mutual talks that the option to transfer might be in their best interest.

“C-Floyd is trying to find a home right now and he has a couple of options right now that we are looking at.”

Floyd’s decision was part of being listed as a third-teamer.

“It may be a possible redshirt year and he was looking at third-string swing corner,” Bielema said. “With two years of remaining eligibility, he had to make a decision and I decided to work with him on that and we are trying to work through a couple of options.”

Bielema also announced that former Razorback defensive tackle Ke’Tyrus Marks had landed at Samford where current Arkansas defensive line coach Rory Segrest used to work.

“To have transition is a not a great thing,” Bielema said. “You are obviously interrupting the normal path of what you recruited them to do.

“KT came to my office and was very emotional. He actually gets to earn a senior letter and sometimes things just don’t work out the way we want, but to find him a home was great."

Bielema said he is trying to help players find a new team.

“With Rafe’s situation, I was on the phone to at least 12 o’clock on Sunday night trying to find him a home," Bielema said.

“Same thing with C-Floyd. That is why I just stepped away a minute ago to make a phone call there to try and find him a home.

“When you recruit these guys you want them to have success beyond their time here, but everybody’s timing in a little different. They may no longer be here, but I still want them to have success.”
