What Bret Bielema said on his radio show

Arkansas running back T.J. Hammonds scores a touchdown during a game against Coastal Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, in Fayetteville.

— Bret Bielema did not provide any clues on the starting quarterback on his weekly radio show Thursday at the Catfish Hole.

Cole Kelley is nursing a toe injury from last week's victory over Coastal Carolina. Austin Allen has missed the last four games because of a shoulder injury.

"We are excited with Austin's recovery," Bielema said. "It's been a steady progression (over the last four weeks). There was a sniff of a chance against Ole Miss. Last week, we thought he might play. I didn't want to test it with the situation in the game and suffer a setback.

"This week, the good news is that he's practiced all week. Tomorrow morning Dan (Enos) and I will meet and make a decision, and in the walk-through (practice) will put in a No. 1 quarterback."

Bielema said the most physical team has won the four Arkansas-LSU games that he has been a part of since becoming the Razorbacks' coach.

"We are 2-2 in my time here," he said. "The most physical team has won each time. Last year, it was a game that we could have won, but we weren't the most physical team."

The Hogs and Tigers will play for the Boot trophy.

"Last year, (LSU) shined up the Louisiana part of the trophy, but not so much the top part," Bielema said. "We made a point of that to our players this week."

Bielema said running back T. J. Hammonds is more versed in the entire offense this week.

"Last year, T.J. played running back but it didn't go as well as he wanted," Bielema said. "So in the offseason he asked to play wide receiver."

This is the week that Hammonds has the entire offense down pat.

"He knows more of the offense," Bielema said. "Saturday he should get a steady dose."
