Pulaski Academy's Henry says Arkansas in great place to land him

— It would appear that Arkansas cemented its spot at the top of four-star Pulaski Academy tight end Hudson Henry’s list on Friday night at its Woo Pig Nic with just one more test to pass.

Henry, Arkansas’ top in-state 2019 prospect, the nation’s top tight end and 55th-best overall recruit nationally, per ESPN, was one of the Razorbacks’ numerous recruiting targets on hand in Fayetteville.

“Arkansas is in a good place with me,” noted Henry, whose dad and two older brothers have been Razorbacks. “Obviously, I have deep ties here and I have had a lot of family members go here.

“I think I just want to see the tight end usage this year. I know they are not going to lie to me, tell me something and then do something else. It is just seeing the proof is in the pudding that they are going to do that. I think seeing that will really encourage me in my decision.”

Henry, whose brother Hunter was named the nation’s top college tight end as a junior and is currently an NFL player for the Los Angeles Chargers, said he enjoyed seeing the family side of the Arkansas coaching staff at the event, which included food, games and even a dance-off.

“Just getting to know them over the past eight months, they are the kind of guys that you want to coach you,” Henry said. “They are just all-around standout guys – full of character and honor and they are more about off-the-field stuff than they are football.

“But they are still successful on the field. They care a lot about who you are as a person. That’s important to me because I want to be taught by guys who will lead me as men.”

Henry also got a chance to visit with 2019 Arkansas commits KJ Jefferson, Malik Chavis, offensive linemen Beaux Limmer and Joseph Stone and other targets such as the Warren duo of wide receiver Treylon Burks and defensive lineman Marcus Miller.

“It went great,” said Henry, whose brother Hayden will be a sophomore linebacker for Arkansas this fall. “I just sat around and talked with other recruits. I think that was the main reason I was here was to get to know those guys, and if I did come here who would I be around. I think it was good to see that today. I was really impressed and happy to see that today and meet all those guys.”

Henry, who had 72 catches for 984 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior, narrowed a list of over 30 offers down to Arkansas, Stanford, Wisconsin, Clemson and Penn State.

He does not have a timetable as of yet to narrow it any further.

“I narrowed it down to five schools back in May and now I just want to see how the tight ends are used in the offenses at these schools,” Henry said. “Decision-wise, I’m not sure how I want to do it or when I want to do it.”

Pulaski Academy will be looking for its fifth straight state title this season.

“We actually get going Monday,” Henry said. “I have actually been out the whole summer because I tore a ligament in my thumb in the spring. I am just starting to get back and I am so excited. I can’t wait. I am so excited for our team this year.”
