Georgia 4-star DE commits to Hogs

Dante Walker

— Highly recruited defensive end Dante Walker felt so much like a member of the Razorbacks family during his official visit to Fayetteville that he committed to the Hogs.

“It’s a home feeling,” Walker said. “Last night at dinner, I just felt like one of the family members.”

Walker, 6-3, 240 pounds of Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove picked Arkansas over scholarship offers from Auburn, LSU, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and numerous others.

“I found what I was looking for, to be honest,” Walker said of Arkansas.

ESPN rates Walker a 4-star prospect, the No. 31 defensive end and No. 263 overall prospect in the nation for the 2019 class. The highlight of the trip was the game on Saturday.

“The game, just seeing Arkansas fight and being explosive against Alabama,” Walker said. “I really liked it.”

He recorded 69 tackles, 23 for loss, 9 sacks, 8 quarterback hurries, 3 forced fumbles and a recovered fumble as a junior. Defensive tackle T.J. Smith hosted Walker.

“He said I’m going to love it,” Walker said. “He had a great freshman and sophomore year. He said what you see is what you get.”

Walker, whose lead recruiter is defensive tackles coach John Scott Jr., is the fourth 4-star defensive end to pledge to the Hogs.
