Toll enjoys Sunday visit to Arkansas

— Arkansas got its chance to cozy up to Hazen three-star athlete Blayne Toll on Sunday when he took an unofficial visit to check out the Razorback program.

Toll (6-5, 235), an ESPN Top 300 prospect that is likely a tight end or defensive end in college, was of a few prospects who made it to Fayetteville on Sunday.

"It was great, the coaches, the people, the atmosphere," Toll said. "Really just everything about it."

He didn't get a chance to meet with Razorback defensive ends coach Steve Caldwell, who was attending his son's wedding.

"He has a very good history as a great coach," Toll said. "He couldn't be there today because his son had a wedding, but I really like him."

Toll has gotten a lot of offers lately. Arkansas offered on Jan. 21, while LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, TCU, Oklahoma State, Louisville, Kansas, Vanderbilt Memphis, Houston are among his others.

"It's been very humbling," Toll said. "It makes me feel really good, especially to be from such a very small school and to get all this attention."

He had taken visits to Tennessee (Jan. 27) and Ole Miss (Feb. 2) before coming to Arkansas, where he attended football camp last summer. He has plans to visit LSU in March.

"I don't have a clue yet when I might commit," Toll said.

ESPN has Toll ranked as its top player in Arkansas in the 2020 class and its 299th player overall. He was also invited and participated in the U.S. Army All-All-American Combine in January.

"Most people are recruiting me as an athlete, as a tight end or defensive end," Toll said. "But I want to play defensive end."

Hazen went 13-1 this past season with the only loss coming to Junction City 36-22 in the Class 2A state championship game.

"It was an incredible experience and I loved doing it with my brothers," Toll said. "We have a lot coming back, but we lost all of our starting offensive linemen from last year so that is going to be hard."

As a sophomore, Toll played quarterback for Hazen and passed for 715 yards and eight touchdowns while also rushing for 465 yards.

He also had 42 tackles on defense with 24 stops for lost yardage, nine sacks, three forced fumbles.

Toll is one of four in-state 2020 prospects that Arkansas has offered along with Morrilton quarterback Jacolby Criswell (6-1, 210), Jonesboro defensive end JaShaud Stewart (6-2, 216) and Bryant linebacker Catrell Wallace (6-6, 215).
