Former Arkansas guard Jannero Pargo was hired as an assistant coach by the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday.

Pargo, 39, had previously served as an assistant coach for the Windy City Bulls, Chicago's G-League affiliate, since September 2017.

He played for seven franchises in his 11-year NBA career and averaged 6.4 points, 2.0 assists and 1.4 rebounds per game.

“Jannero is an exceptional addition to our coaching staff,” Portland coach Terry Stotts said in a release. “He was a consummate professional as a player, and combined with his experience, will be able to build great relationships with our players.”

A native of Chicago, Pargo played two seasons (2000-02) at Arkansas after transferring from Neosho County Community College in Kansas. Pargo averaged 14.4 points, 2.8 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game in 60 games with the Razorbacks and left as one of the program's most accurate 3-point shooters.

Pargo shot 42.5 percent (168 of 395) from 3-point range, which ranks second on the Razorbacks' career list behind Scotty Thuman's 43.2 percent for players with a minimum of 300 attempts.
