Musselman adds Ruta to administrative staff

Eric Musselman speaks at a press conference after his introduction as the new head coach of men's basketball at the University of Arkansas by Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek Monday, April 8, 2019 in Bud Walton Arena on the campus in Fayetteville. During the previous four seasons, Musselman coached the University of Nevada in Reno to a 110-34 record.

Arkansas has hired Anthony Ruta as director of men’s basketball operations.

Ruta spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach on Eric Musselman’s staff at Nevada, and previously was the program’s director of operations.

Musselman was hired as the Razorbacks’ head coach in April. In the weeks following the hire, Ruta helped scout recruits at AAU tournaments, but was not one of the three full-time assistants eventually hired to Musselman’s first Arkansas staff.

Musselman and Ruta began working together at Arizona State in 2013-14 while Musselman was an assistant coach and Ruta was a graduate assistant.

Ruta replaces Matt Zimmerman, who was director of operations the past three seasons on Mike Anderson’s staff at Arkansas.
