Current, former Razorback among Groza Award semifinalists

Arkansas kicker Connor Limpert attempts an extra point during a game against Texas A&M on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, in Arlington, Texas.

— Arkansas kicker Connor Limpert and former Razorback kicker Blake Mazza are among the 20 semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award, which is presented annually to the nation’s most outstanding place kicker.

Three finalists for the award will be announced later this month.

Limpert, a senior, has made 12 of 15 field goal attempts this season for the Razorbacks, including a long of 54 yards during Arkansas’ victory over Colorado State in September.

Limpert’s 54-yarder is the third-longest field goal this season by a Groza Award semifinalist. Air Force’s Jake Koehnke (57 yards) and Nevada’s Brandon Talton (56) made longer kicks while playing at altitude.

Mazza, now a redshirt sophomore at Washington State, has made all 13 of his field goal attempts this season. Mazza has made two field goals of at least 50 yards, with a long of 51 at Utah.

Mazza redshirted as a true freshman at Arkansas in 2017 when he lost the starting battle to Limpert and Cole Hedlund.

This is the second consecutive season that Limpert has been a semifinalist for the Groza Award. He is Arkansas’ career leader with an 81.3 career field percentage (39 of 48).
