Jones named SEC Player of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas junior guard Mason Jones has been named SEC Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

In the Razorbacks’ season-opening 91-43 win over Rice last Tuesday, Jones scored a career-high 32 points on 12 of 18 shooting and 4 of 8 from 3-point range. He also grabbed seven rebounds, second on the team to Adrio Bailey (9), and came away with a career-high five steals.

Jones’ 32 points were the second most scored by a Razorbacks player in a season opener. It was also the third 30-point game of his career.

Arkansas returns to play Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Bud Walton Arena against North Texas.
