After 54-yard field goal, Limpert earns SEC award

Arkansas players celebrate as Connor Limpert (back left) kicks a 54-yard field goal during a game against Colorado State on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, in Fayetteville.

— Arkansas kicker Connor Limpert was named special teams player of the week by the Southeastern Conference on Monday.

Limpert made two field goal attempts from 54 and 22 yards during the Razorbacks’ 55-34 victory over Colorado State on Saturday. He also made seven extra-point attempts and had 5 of 10 kickoffs go for touchbacks.

It is the first time Limpert has won the weekly SEC award.

Limpert’s 54-yard field goal near the end of the first quarter put the Razorbacks ahead 24-14 Saturday. It was the second-longest field goal of the senior’s career, one yard shy of his 55-yard field goal last season against Vanderbilt.

"Connor Limpert gave us a huge momentum boost," Arkansas coach Chad Morris said following Saturday's game. "That kick probably would have went from 65. When that kick came off his foot, it was a rocket. It was great to see him respond after missing one last week."

The 22-yard field goal extended Arkansas’ lead to 27-14 early in the second quarter.

Limpert, a senior, has made 5 of 6 field goal attempts this season. For his career Limpert has made 32 of 39 field goal attempts, an 82.1 percent rate that is the highest for any Arkansas kicker.
