No. 12 Arkansas hits 14 3s in win at UALR

The No. 12 Arkansas women’s basketball team made 14 3-pointers and shot better than 53% from the floor Saturday, earning an 80-70 road win over Arkansas-Little Rock.

The 14 made 3s are the most a Joe Foley-coached team has allowed in a game.

Senior guard Chelsea Dungee led the Razorbacks with 18 points on 6 of 11 shooting, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range. She scored six points in the first quarter, helping Arkansas get out to a 26-12 lead after 10 minutes, and six in the fourth quarter.

Three other Razorbacks finished in double figures in the win. Graduate transfer guard Destiny Slocum added 16 points and a team-high four assists, Makayla Daniels finished with 11 points and Amber Ramirez had 10. Ramirez knocked down 3 of 6 attempts from deep and Daniels connected on 2 of 3 looks.

UALR made just 1 of 5 3-point attempts and never led in the game.

Arkansas was outscored 54-24 in points in the paint, but the Razorbacks finished with edges of 20-6 in fastbreak points and 24-4 in bench points. Jailyn Mason scored a team-high nine points for Arkansas off the bench on 3 of 6 from distance while Erynn Barnum added eight points and six rebounds.

Sophomore guard Marquesha Davis chipped in seven points and three assists in 11 minutes.

The Trojans were led by a game-high 27 points from Brianna Crane, who was 12 of 19 from the floor and grabbed six rebounds. Nineteen of her points came in the second half on 8 of 11 shooting.

Teal Battled finished with 19 points and five rebounds, and Krystan Vornes recorded a 12-point, 13-rebound double-double. Mayra Caicedo had 10 assists for UALR.

Arkansas (8-1) returns to play Monday when it hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 1 p.m. in Bud Walton Arena. The game will air on SEC Network-Plus.

It is the Razorbacks’ final nonconference game prior to opening SEC play on Dec. 31 at Kentucky.
