Shiloh Christian's Tollett gets close look at Arkansas

Shiloh Christian receiver Truitt Tollett (8) breaks through the Joe T. Robinson defense for a big gain during the Class 4A state championship game on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2019, at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

— The nation’s most productive receiver in 2019 had the shortest trip of any of the eight official visitors Arkansas hosted this weekend.

Shiloh Christian's Truitt Tollett (6-2, 179 pounds) and his family only had to drive a few miles to take in the recruiting weekend.

“It was a really cool experience,” Tollett said. “They really do it right here, that's no doubt. All day yesterday they had us doing something. It's a really good experience.”

Tollett caught a nation-best 134 passes for 2,046 yards (fourth nationally), and tied the Arkansas state record with 30 touchdown receptions (third nationally). He also had three punt returns for touchdowns.

“It was obviously a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Tollett said. “It was just incredible to play with all my best friends all year. There's nothing like high school football.”

Shiloh won its first 14 games before losing 56-28 to Joe T. Robinson in the Class 4A state title game.

Tollett is not sure whether his option with Arkansas would be as a preferred walk-on or as a scholarship player.

He has scholarship offers from Ouachita Baptist, East Central University in Ada, Okla., and Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo.

“That's undetermined right now so I'm just for right now waiting to see what comes along,” Tollett said. “… They have kind of thrown around that option (preferred walk-on) but nothing's official yet.”

Tollett’s host this weekend was Arkansas freshman receiver John David White. He also spent time with freshman tight end Hudson Henry.

"It was really fun getting to meet him, Hudson and those guys, (and) spending the night with them,” Tollett said. “It was a blast.”
