Joe questionable Saturday vs. Missouri

Arkansas guard Isaiah Joe watches the Razorbacks go through warmups on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020 in Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas guard Isaiah Joe's status for the Razorbacks’ home game against Missouri on Saturday remains uncertain.

Joe, who has missed five consecutive games since undergoing arthroscopic debridement surgery on his right knee on Feb. 4 due to recurring inflammation, went through most of the team's practice on Thursday and did not experience swelling in the knee, coach Eric Musselman said on Friday.

The sophomore will follow a similar practice plan Friday, he added.

"We’ll see how he feels tomorrow," Musselman said. "I think it will either be a go or not a go. I think that’s probably the best way to describe it. I don’t think it will be playing 12 minutes. It’s going to be he’s able to go or not to go.

"Obviously, we’re not going to play him 40 minutes if he’s available, but it’s not going to be some huge minutes restriction if that would be the case."

Joe initially injured his right knee Jan. 11 at Ole Miss, a game in which he scored 34 points and made 7 of 11 3-point attempts, and aggravated the injury Jan. 22 in a loss at Mississippi State. Joe finished the game with five points on 2 of 13 shooting in 36 minutes.

Arkansas’ second-leading scorer at 16 points per game on 36 percent shooting and 34 percent from 3-point range, Joe traveled to Florida on Tuesday and dressed out but did not play. He went through a contact practice on Monday.

"I think his mindset is awesome," Musselman said. "I really do. He’s shooting on his own, and I think he’s excited about getting closer to being able to play."

The Razorbacks are 15-5 this season with Joe and 1-5 without him. The team’s lone win in his absence came against TCU in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Jan. 25.

In the six games Joe did not play, Arkansas shot 45 percent on 2-point attempts, 34.4 percent beyond the arc and scored .98 points per possession, according to HoopLens analytics. Defensively, opponents shot a troublesome 56.1 percent inside the 3-point line, 30.5 percent beyond it and scored at a 1.05 point-per-possession clip.

With Joe in the lineup this season, the Razorbacks have allowed .84 points per possession, per HoopLens.

Tipoff on Saturday is set for noon in Bud Walton Arena. The game will air on SEC Network.
