Georgia prep QB Dixon impressed with Razorbacks

— Quarterback C.J. Dixon of Loganville (Grayson) Ga., was once pledged to Illinois, but reopened his recruiting in December.

That decision led him to take an official visit to Arkansas this weekend.

Dixon (6-4, 215 pounds, 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash) took an official visit to see what the Razorbacks had to offer. He left impressed with new Arkansas coach Sam Pittman and offensive coordinator Kendal Briles.

“The highlights were definitely Coach Pittman and I got to talk to Coach Briles,” Dixon said. “So as of right now, they are pretty much number one.”

The visit with Briles was more than just about Xs and Os, said Dixon, who ESPN ranks a 4-star recruit, the No. 13 pocket passer and the No. 194 overall prospect in the nation for the 2020 class. Dixon said his conversations with Briles centered around more than football.

“I am trying to ask him how he can help me build as a man in my future and also in my academics," Dixon said. "He had all the answers.”

Dixon said he is also looking at a pair of SEC powers in Georgia, where he hopes to visit next weekend, and Alabama.

“It’s pretty much those three schools," he said.

Dixon completed 169 of 315 passes for 2,434 yards, 21 touchdowns and 8 interceptions as as senior for the Rams (10-3).

“My passing ability is pretty natural to me,” Dixon said. “I like to learn how to throw from every kind of angle and be able to throw from this angle and that angle. I want to simplify the game.”

Dixon said he has worked hard to develop.

“It has really just been hard work and doing it every second of my day,” Dixon said.

Arkansas receiver Mike Woods hosted Dixon during his trip to Fayetteville.

“Our relationship is pretty good,” Dixon said.
