ACC postponement affects Arkansas soccer schedule

— The Atlantic Coast Conference on Thursday announced it will postpone the start of fall sports competition until at least Sept. 1.

Arkansas was scheduled to play two soccer games against ACC opponents during that time - the season opener at Duke on Aug. 20 and at North Carolina on Aug. 23. The North Carolina date was to be the back end of a home-and-home agreement that began last season when the Razorbacks upset the No. 1 Tar Heels 2-0 in Fayetteville.

According to the ACC, any rescheduling of contests will be made by the individual schools. Arkansas soccer coach Colby Hale was not made available for comment Thursday.

The Razorbacks, who won their first SEC championship last year, are scheduled to play exhibition games at Memphis on Aug. 9 and at home against Oral Roberts on Aug. 14. With the cancellations of the Duke and North Carolina dates, Arkansas' first scheduled regular-season game is now Aug. 28 against Arkansas-Little Rock.
