Hogs make 4-star receiver's top 5

NWA Democrat-Gazette/BEN GOFF @NWABENGOFF Justin Stepp, Arkansas wide receivers coach, runs a drill Thursday, March 1, 2018, during Arkansas spring football practice at the Fred W. Smith Football Center in Fayetteville.

Arkansas is one of the top schools for receiver Jayden Thomas, an ESPN 4-star prospect.

Thomas, 6-1, 200 pounds, of Pace Academy in Atlanta, announced a top five of Arkansas, Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State and Michigan in a post on his Twitter account on Friday. He's also an outstanding center fielder and shortstop and is being recruited by Arkansas to play baseball.

He told why the Hogs made the cut.

"The relationship I have established with coach (Sam) Pittman and coach (Justin) Stepps and also having the opportunity to play baseball," Thomas said.

He caught 21 passes for 238 yards and a touchdown as a junior. He has 83 receptions for 1,224 yards and 8 touchdowns in 26 games over the past three seasons.

Thomas has also recorded 33 tackles while playing safety in the same time period along with one tackle for loss, one quarterback pressure and 3 pass breakups.

ESPN rates him the No. 43 wide receiver and No. 222 overall prospect in the nation.

He announced a top 11 in February. That list included Arkansas, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech.
