Colton Jackson to coach offensive line at Conway

Colton Jackson, Arkansas offensive lineman, watches from the sidelines Saturday, March 30, 2019, during Arkansas spring practice at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

Former Arkansas offensive lineman Colton Jackson is returning home to begin his coaching career.

Jackson, who played in 39 career games with the Razorbacks, will join the football staff at his alma mater Conway High School, Wampus Cats coach Keith Fimple confirmed.

He will be an assistant offensive line coach at Conway, which has won 26 games in the last three seasons.

In October, Jackson opted to retire from football due to injuries, specifically to his back. He underwent surgery on his back in the summer of 2018 and missed three games that fall.

Jackson did not play in three games and missed most of two others in 2019 because of foot and back injuries. He also spent time in concussion protocol.

The Conway native earned a start in 26 games at Arkansas, including 23 at left tackle. He started three games at right tackle in 2016 as a redshirt freshman.

Jackson was a three-star recruit out of high school, according to ESPN. He graduated from Arkansas in May with a masters degree in recreation and sports management.

Jackson is the latest former Razorback to land a coaching job in Arkansas this summer, joining the likes of receiver Joe Adams (Central Arkansas Christian), running back Broderick Green (Springdale Har-Ber), offensive lineman Brey Cook (Pea Ridge) and quarterback Ty Storey (Grimsley Junior High in Centerton).

Kevin Richardson, a former walk-on defensive back for the Razorbacks, was hired at Northeastern (Okla.) State in May to coach nickel backs.
