Defensive end Barr visits Arkansas again

Silas Barr

— Perhaps no Arkansas 2021 recruit looks more different than he did last year as Pottsboro, Texas, defensive end Silas Barr.

Barr (6-5, 250), who was on hand for the Razorbacks’ Junior Day on Saturday, has grown two inchesand gained some 30 pounds from this time last season.

“I ate a lot and trained a lot,” Barr said. “I train as much as I can and stay in the weight room.”

He’s also been working on his speed.

“I'm training with a man named Sean Cooper to work on my speed,” Barr said. “Doing anything I can by myself to do it as well. Just constantly training for speed.”

Barr, who has a 3.4 grade point average and has scored a 24 on his ACT, is coming off a junior season in which he had 106 tackles, 54 solo, nine for loss, 5.5 sacks, three recovered fumbles and two safeties.

He helped lead Pottsboro to a 15-1 record and a berth in the Class 3A Division I state championship game although they lost to Grandview 42-35.

My biggest strengths I say I'm good at stopping the run in my opinion and I'm a good teammate,” Barr said.

Barr visited Arkansas for spring practice last year and the Razorbacks’ win over Colorado State last fall, but this was his first chance tp meet the new staff.

“It was good,” Barr said. “It was nice to meet the staff. They were all nice and friendly. Talking to Coach LeBlanc. that was nice to finally talk to him…We had a friendly conversation.”

Barr is getting interest from Arkansas, Rice and Pennsylvania.

He hopes to be invited back to Fayetteville.

“I mean if I get the invitation to come back, I would love to come back,” Barr said. “I love Fayetteville. I love Arkansas. It's a good place to be.”
