FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas gymnastics coach Jordyn Wieber announced Friday the hiring of Catelyn Orel as an assistant coach with the program.

Orel spent Wieber’s first season leading the Razorbacks as a volunteer coach. She worked primarily with the beam team and as lead choreographer on beam and floor.

“In just one year, Catelyn has already made an incredible impact on our program,” Wieber said in a release. “I have no doubt that her knowledge and creative expertise will continue helping this program excel. Throughout the hiring process, it was evidently clear that she was the perfect person for this assistant coaching position.

"Catelyn is a part of our family, she knows the athletes well and she is the definition of strong character.”

A native of Blue Sage, Mo., Orel graduated from Nebraska with a management degree following a career as an all-around performer for the Cornhuskers.

“I already feel such a special connection to each of our athletes and our University as a whole,” Orel said in the release. “I’m excited and ready to build off of what we did last year and take us to the next level.”
