Melbourne's Jenna Lawrence commits to Neighbors

Melbourne's Jenna Lawrence shoots over Quitman defenders during the second quarter of Melbourne's 47-28 victory over Quitman in the Class 2A girls basketball state championship game on Thursday, March 12, 2020, in Hot Springs.

Arkansas coach Mike Neighbors has reeled in his second commitment for the 2023 class with the pledge of in-state wing Jenna Lawrence.

Lawrence, 6-2, of Melbourne, picked the Razorbacks over offers from Ole Miss, Arkansas State, Southern Miss and Saint Louis. She received her dream offer from Neighbors on June 22.

"Arkansas has always been my dream school and ever since I was little," she said. "I’ve always wanted to be a Hog. I decided to make this decision early on because I feel so strongly that Arkansas is the place for me. I just want to stay home and represent my hometown and state as a Lady Razorback."

Lawrence averaged 11.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.1 steals per game as a freshman to lead the Bearkatz to their second consecutive Class 2A state title. She scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and blocked 7 shots in the championship game against Quitman.

Combo guard Maryn Archer, 5-8, of Derby, Kan., pledged to the Razorbacks on June 9. She is the No. 23 prospect in the nation in her class, according to Blue Star Basketball.
