FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas women’s and men’s cross country teams are picked to win SEC titles in a vote of the conference's coaches, it was announced Tuesday by the SEC office.

The Arkansas women, defending SEC and NCAA champions, received 13 of 14 first-place votes with one going to Ole Miss.

Coaches aren’t allowed to vote for their own team, so Razorbacks Coach Lance Harter voted for the Rebels.

Arkansas’ men’s team received nine of 12 first-place vote, with Ole Miss, which has won the last two SEC titles, getting three votes. Two SEC teams — Mississippi State and South Carolina — do not sponsor men's cross country.

The Razorbacks’ women’s team has won the last seven SEC titles and 21 overall. The UA men have won 25 SEC titles.

Both Arkansas teams open the season on Saturday in Baton Rouge, La., which also will host the SEC Championships on Oct. 30.
