FAYETTEVILLE — A vaccination clinic will be located in the north end zone concourse during Arkansas’ season-opening football game against Rice on Saturday.

The clinic, hosted by the Northwest Arkansas Council, will administer first, second or booster doses of the Pfizer covid-19 vaccine, which received full approval by the Food and Drug Administration last week. The vaccinations are free of charge for anyone 12 years or older.

Nate Green of the Northwest Arkansas Council said vaccination clinics will be available at all six of the Razorbacks' on-campus football games this year.

According to the University of Arkansas, those getting a second dose of the Pfizer vaccine must be 21 days removed from their first dose and must present their CDC vaccination card. A third booster dose of the vaccine will be offered to those who are immunocompromised and are at least 28 days removed from their second dose.

Minors must be accompanied by a parent to receive the vaccination.

Several sport teams have offered game-day vaccinations this year, including all 30 Major League Baseball teams. The Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints of the NFL have announced they will offer game-day vaccinations this fall.

Arkansas football coach Sam Pittman and basketball coach Eric Musselman have been featured in recent ads promoting vaccinations for students. The social media posts show both coaches with their sleeves raised and a bandaid on their arms.

The Razorbacks will not require covid-19 vaccinations or negative tests by fans, and will allow unlimited capacity at sporting events to begin the season, Arkansas athletics director Hunter Yurachek told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette last Friday. Masks will be required inside the football stadium’s indoor club areas and press box, but not in outdoor seating areas.

LSU announced last week it would require fans attending football games at Tiger Stadium to be vaccinated or to provide proof of a negative covid-19 PCR test within 72 hours of each game. Arkansas is scheduled to play at LSU on Nov. 20.

According to the SEC, attendance policies are at the discretion of each host team.
