Arkansas is hosting an LSU commitment for an official visit this weekend.

Cornerback Laterrance Welch, 6-1, 175 pounds, of Lafayette (La.) Acadiana, arrived in Fayetteville on Saturday to visit the Razorbacks.

He committed to the Tigers in January over schools such as Arkansas, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Colorado.

Arkansas cornerbacks coach Sam Carter impressed him when checking on him after having meniscus surgery in June before his junior year. Carter has stayed in contact.

“He’s really different from other schools,” Welch said in a previous interview. “When I had surgery on my knee, he would check on me every day. I’m 100% now. I had surgery on June 10. He’s been checking up on me. He’s different from the other coaches, because other coaches talk about how they want me and stuff like that.

"I feel like I’ve been knowing him.”

ESPN rates Welch a 4-star recruit, the No. 12 cornerback and No. 101 overall prospect in the nation for 2022 class.
