3 Razorbacks named All-SEC by league's coaches

Arkansas cornerback Montaric Brown (21) comes up with a fumble recovery during a game against Alabama on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

FAYETTEVILLE — Three Arkansas players have been named to All-SEC teams by the league’s coaches, it was announced Tuesday.

Razorbacks star receiver Treylon Burks and cornerback Montaric Brown were first-team selections, and linebacker Bumper Pool received second-team recognition.

Burks, who is draft eligible in 2022, put together one of the top individual regular seasons by an Arkansas receiver, totaling 66 catches for 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns. He added 112 yards and 1 touchdown on the ground.

His six 100-plus yard receiving games this season are a program record, and he became the fourth receiver in program history to surpass the 1,000-yard mark in a single season. Burks’ 11 touchdown receptions are tied for second most in school history, as well.

Prior to Burks, Cobi Hamilton (2012) was the most recent Razorbacks receiver to earn first-team honors.

Brown, an Ashdown native, has been the leader of the Arkansas secondary in 2021. His five interceptions are tied for the most in the SEC and are tied for second most among FBS defenders.

Brown is the first Razorback to record five interceptions in a season since Trumain Thomas in 2011 and the first Arkansas cornerback to receive a first-team nod since Ahmad Carroll in 2003.

He finished the regular season with 53 tackles, 5 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.

Pool recorded a team- and career-high 120 tackles in 12 games and had seven games with 10-plus stops. It is the second consecutive season he has been named to the second team by the conference’s coaches.

Pool, who added 7.5 tackles for loss, has 344 career tackles, which place him No. 8 in program history. His 315 tackles over the last three seasons are the second most among FBS players.

Pool is eligible to return for the Razorbacks in 2022.
