5 more Arkansas softball games canceled

Arkansas coach Courtney Deifel watches from the third-base coaches box against Southeast Missouri Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, during the fourth inning at Bogle Park on the university campus in Fayetteville.

— Less than two weeks into its 51-game regular season, Arkansas' softball team has had nine games canceled.

The Maverick Classic in Arlington, Texas, was canceled Wednesday due to poor weather conditions. The No. 20 Razorbacks were scheduled to play Texas-Arlington there twice, and a game apiece against Texas State, Abilene Christian and Wichita State.

Arkansas (0-1) is looking for replacement games this weekend.

The Razorbacks have not played since a 12-11 season-opening loss to No. 11 Oklahoma State on Feb. 11 in Monroe, La. Arkansas had four other games in Monroe canceled due to weather — a game apiece against Oklahoma State, Louisiana-Monroe, Jacksonville State and Lipscomb.

If it is unable to find replacement games this weekend, Arkansas might not play again until Feb. 25 when it scheduled to host North Dakota State for a doubleheader at Bogle Park.
