FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas defensive back Micahh Smith is entering the NCAA’s transfer portal.

Smith, a redshirt senior from Marshall, Texas, announced his intent to transfer in a post to his Twitter account on Thursday. He played in 26 games over five seasons with the Razorbacks.

“My years at the University of Arkansas have brought me joy and friendships that I will cherish forever,” he wrote. “I’m thankful for the amazing fans, alumni and most importantly my teammates who will forever be my family. You all pushed me to become the best version of myself while representing Arkansas.

“Now it’s time for the next chapter in my life.”

Hampered by an injury for much of the 2020 season, Smith played in only one game — at Texas A&M — and did not record any stats.

Smith finished the 2019 season with a career-high 22 tackles, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery. He totaled four tackles in the 2017 and 2018 seasons, seeing the field primarily on special teams.

Other Razorbacks players to seek a transfer since season’s end are quarterback Jack Lindsey, who committed to Arkansas Tech earlier in the week, and safety Myles Mason, who landed at Louisiana Tech.
