FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas’ women’s basketball team will travel to national power UConn in November, it was announced Friday.

The Razorbacks, who finished the 2020-21 season at 19-9 overall and with a first-round loss in the NCAA Tournament, are scheduled to play the Huskies on Sunday, Nov. 14. It will be the program’s first road game against UConn.

Game time and television information will be released at a later date.

“UConn, on the road, early in the season, is something this team really needs,” Razorbacks coach Mike Neighbors said in a release. “We will have a couple of game experiences together before we go into a place all these players grew up watching on TV. It will be memorable for them in so many ways to see what 11 National Championship banners hanging in one spot looks like.

“You hope as a coach and team trying to reach that level of respect, that you can pick up small things that we can bring back home with us to Bud Walton as we keep trying to build our own program. It’s these kind of non-conference matchups that are important to our current players and future recruits, so we are honored and grateful for this opportunity.”

The November matchup will be the third overall between the schools. UConn defeated Arkansas 100-64 in San Jose, Calif., in 1998, but the Razorbacks knocked off the then-No. 3 Huskies 90-87 in Bud Walton Arena in January.

With that win, Neighbors’ 2020-21 team became the first in program history to win multiple games against top-5 opponents in a season. Arkansas also defeated Baylor during the Big 12/SEC Challenge.

The Razorbacks also have scheduled home games against SMU on Nov. 22; California on Dec. 5; Arkansas-Little Rock on Dec. 12; and a game against Central Arkansas on Dec. 18 at Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock.
